Not veterinary advice
PawCurve records information and shows it clearly. It does not diagnose, treat or recommend insulin doses. Never change a dose without your vet. If your pet seems unwell or has a low reading, contact your vet or an emergency vet.
Running a glucose curve
A glucose curve is a series of readings taken every 1–2 hours, usually starting at the morning dose and running about 12 hours (or as your vet asks).
- Feed and give insulin as normal, and log both.
- Tap + → More → Start a glucose curve. Pick "At today's dose".
- PawCurve reminds you at each interval. Tap "Add reading" each time.
- End the curve when you're done. The summary shows the lowest point (nadir), when it happened, and time in range.
- Add it to a report and share it with your vet.
If a reading is low, follow your vet's low-glucose plan and contact your vet.
Syringes and insulin strength (U-40 vs U-100)
Insulin comes in two strengths: U-40 (for example Vetsulin/Caninsulin and ProZinc) and U-100 (for example Lantus, Levemir and NPH insulins). Syringes are marked for one strength.
- Using a U-100 syringe with U-40 insulin delivers 2.5 times less insulin than the marks suggest.
- Using a U-40 syringe with U-100 insulin delivers 2.5 times more.
PawCurve warns you if your syringe and insulin don't match, but it never converts doses. Always check with your vet or pharmacist.
Reminders not arriving?
Reminders are scheduled on your phone and work offline. If they're late or missing:
- Make sure notifications are on for PawCurve. In the app, More → Reminders shows the status at the top.
- Allow "Alarms & reminders" (exact alarms) so reminders arrive on time.
- Set PawCurve's battery usage to Unrestricted: phone Settings → Apps → PawCurve → Battery. Some phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Huawei, Oppo) stop apps in the background; see dontkillmyapp.com for your model.
- Open PawCurve at least once a week; it schedules reminders several days ahead.
Never rely on reminders alone for a pet's safety.
